Pocket Isles · Privacy Policy

Pocket Isles: Cozy Chess ("Pocket Isles", "the game") is owned and operated by Emerge Labs LLC, 2108 N St Ste N, Sacramento, CA 95816, United States ("we", "us").

This policy explains what the game collects, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

What we collect: anonymous analytics

Pocket Isles uses Google Analytics for Firebase, provided by Google, to understand how the game is played. It collects:

Firebase links these events to a random app-instance identifier it creates on your device. It isn't tied to your name, email or Apple ID, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the game. We use Firebase without its advertising features: there's no advertising identifier (IDFA), no identifier for vendors (IDFV), no ad network sign-up, no Google Signals, and ad storage and ad personalisation are off.

How we use it

Only to understand and improve the game: which islands players get stuck on, how the acorn prices feel, whether people come back, and which bugs to fix. We don't use it for advertising, we don't build profiles of anyone, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

No ads, no tracking

Pocket Isles shows no ads and includes no advertising network. It doesn't track you as Apple defines it, so it never shows Apple's "Allow tracking" prompt.

Your progress and iCloud

Your progress (islands cleared, stars, best moves and times, acorns and purchases you've unlocked) is saved on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, it's also kept in your own iCloud account with Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so it follows you to your other iPhone or iPad and comes back if you reinstall. That copy is stored by Apple in your account; we can't see it. Sound, music and haptics settings stay on each device. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Pocket Isles in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud. One-time purchases can always be restored from the App Store on the same Apple ID.

Apple services the game uses

These features (and iCloud, above) are provided by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We never receive your Apple ID, name, email or payment details.

Diagnostics from Apple

If you've opted in to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics with us. They don't identify anyone. We use them only to fix bugs.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or "share" your information for advertising. Analytics data is processed for us by Google as our service provider under the Google Analytics terms, and Apple processes Game Center and purchases. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or players' safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the game, in which case this policy continues to apply.

How long we keep it

Analytics events are kept for no longer than 14 months, after which Google deletes them. Progress on your device stays until you delete the game. Support emails are deleted once the conversation is resolved, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Children

Pocket Isles is suitable for all ages, but it isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The game has no ads, no accounts, no chat and no advertising identifier, and its analytics are anonymous and used only to improve the game. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its use. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in improving the game for anonymous analytics, and on performing our agreement with you to deliver purchases. Email us and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and the policy linked in the game. If we ever change what the game collects, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label first.
