Common questions

How do the animals move? Each animal moves like a chess piece. Rabbits hop in an L like a knight and can jump over anything. Foxes slide diagonally like a bishop. Hedgehogs roll in a straight line until something stops them. Cats step one tile in any direction like a king. Owls fly any distance in any straight line like a queen. Frogs leap exactly two tiles. Ducklings waddle one tile forward. The first time you meet an animal, the game shows you its move.

What does Par mean? Par is the fewest moves we found for that island. Clear it in par or fewer for 3 stars. Taking a few more moves still earns stars.

How much does it cost? Pocket Isles is free to download, and the first world (Meadow Isle, 12 islands) is free to play. Unlock All Islands ($4.99, one-time) opens the other 60 islands in worlds 2 to 6. Unlimited Undo ($4.99, one-time) makes undos free. Acorn packs ($0.99, $2.99 and $4.99) and two tips ($1.99 and $4.99) are optional. Prices are in US dollars and vary by country.

Are there ads? No. Pocket Isles has no ads, and never will.

What are acorns for? Every island gives you 3 free undos. After that an undo costs 1 acorn, and a hint costs 2. Restarting is always free. You earn acorns by winning stars, and you can buy packs at the Acorn Stall. With Unlimited Undo, undos never cost acorns.

My purchase didn't show up. Open Settings (or the Acorn Stall) and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID, so make sure you're signed in with the same one you bought with. One-time unlocks are restored. Acorn packs are used up when you spend them and can't be restored. If something is still missing, email us with your App Store receipt and we'll sort it out.

I want a refund. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and choose the purchase.

I lost my progress. Progress is saved on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, in your iCloud account, so reinstalling the game or signing in on a new iPhone or iPad brings it back. Open the game while connected to the internet and give it a moment. Unlocks you bought can always be restored with Restore Purchases. We can't rebuild stars or acorns on our side because the game has no accounts and we don't collect them.

My score isn't on the leaderboard. Leaderboards need Game Center: iOS Settings → Game Center, sign in, then clear an island. Each world has a fewest-moves board, and there's one for total stars.

How do I turn off the music or sounds? Use the music and sound buttons at the top of the home screen. They switch off separately.

The game feels slow or stutters. Close other apps, make sure Low Power Mode is off, and restart the game.

Report a bug

Email the steps that trigger it, the island name, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can. The more exact the steps, the faster we fix it.
